Sport Fishing in Kenya

In the late 1890's game fishing in Kenya was born. The popularity of this sport here in Kenya now attracts anglers from all over the world, offering fantastic trout fishing around the Mt. Kenya area, great lake fishing in Lake Naivasha, and some of the best salt water fishing off Kenya's 400+ miles of golden coast!

The Kenyan coast has friendly seas, with a tropical coastline and an abundance of marine life. The reef structure here is only a few hundred metres offshore, dropping off very quickly to depths ranging from 100m to 500m in a matter of one kilometre along most sectors of the coastline.

Many many hungry stripped marlin, wahoo, big bull Dorado, roam our waters throughout the fishing season [late July to Early May]. For the fisherman with the family, an array of 1st. class hotels and resorts dots our coastline, offering great beach holidays full of fun-filled activities. All types of fishing: fly fishing, drifting, overnight fishing, live baiting, trolling, & casting.

Species

Around Mount Kenya, many trout fishes in the rarely fished waters abound here. 12,000 feet above sea level, the scenic Lake Alice offers other incredible species too. In Lake Naivasha, the Bass, and Salmon species abound. Off the coast, Rainbow Runner, Cobia, Sharks, Yellow Fin Tuna, Bonito, Wahoo, Kingfish, Dorado, Barracuda, Kawakawa, Trevally, Snapper and Grouper, The Billfish [include Broadbill Swordfish], Blue, Black and Stripped Marlin and Indo-Pacific Sailfish are all in our waters!
